The Lunar Roving Vehicle (LRV), often called the “moon buggy,” expanded the range of exploration during the later Apollo missions. Seen here with an astronaut preparing equipment, the rover allowed astronauts to travel farther from the landing site, carry heavier loads, and set up scientific instruments with greater efficiency. Its inclusion in Apollo 15, 16, and 17 marked a major step in extending humanity’s reach across the lunar landscape.
